Job Summary
QLM has partnered with a growing mechanical piping fabrication company in the Tempe, AZ area to identify an experienced Quality Control Inspector with a strong background in pipe fabrication, welding, and quality assurance. This role will be responsible for inspecting fabricated piping and structural components throughout the production process, ensuring all work meets customer specifications, industry standards, and company quality requirements. The ideal candidate will have the ability to interpret fabrication drawings, maintain weld maps, identify weld defects, perform dimensional inspections, and work closely with shop personnel to uphold the highest standards of quality and workmanship.

Pay Range
$32-$38 per hour
QLM has partnered with a leading mechanical piping fabrication company in the Tempe area that is seeking an experienced Quality Control Inspector to join their fabrication shop. This is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring fabricated piping and structural components meet customer specifications, quality standards, and project requirements throughout the production process.
This opportunity is ideal for someone with a strong fabrication or welding background who has experience performing quality inspections in a pipe fabrication or structural steel shop.
Responsibilities
- Read and accurately interpret fabrication drawings, isometric drawings, and technical specifications.
- Perform dimensional inspections on fabricated pipe and structural components.
- Verify squareness, length, fit-up, and overall quality of fabricated assemblies.
- Complete, maintain, and update weld maps and quality documentation.
- Identify weld defects and recommend appropriate corrective actions or repair methods.
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance to welders regarding quality expectations and workmanship.
- Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure compliance with customer and company standards.
- Work closely with shop personnel to maintain quality, production, and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Previous Quality Control experience in a mechanical piping fabrication, welding, or structural steel environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and fabrication specifications.
- Strong knowledge of welding processes and common weld defects.
- Experience maintaining weld maps and quality documentation.
- Ability to perform dimensional inspections using standard measuring tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with fabrication teams.
