Project Engineer – Commercial Construction

Location: Jobsite / Field – Project Dependent

Job Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday–Friday with additional hours as project needs require

Travel: Frequent

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join a team managing large-scale commercial construction projects. This is a field-based position working directly with Project Managers, Superintendents, owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to keep projects organized, on schedule, and financially on track.

The Project Engineer will be involved in all aspects of project execution, including RFIs, change orders, scheduling, cost control, procurement, project documentation, quality control, and trade coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and process RFIs, change orders, and project documentation
  • Assist with project schedules, cost controls, labor tracking, and financial reporting
  • Prepare and support monthly owner pay applications
  • Review drawings, specifications, and field-related questions
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, architects, engineers, and field leadership
  • Identify and help resolve trade and field coordination issues
  • Track overall project progress and maintain accurate project records
  • Coordinate material and equipment procurement
  • Participate in owner/architect/contractor meetings
  • Support jobsite safety meetings, audits, and quality control inspections
  • Assist with BIM/VDC coordination
  • Manage and mentor Office Engineers and Jobsite Administrators

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management
  • 3–6 years of experience on large commercial construction projects
  • Experience with RFIs, change orders, scheduling, cost control, and construction documentation
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Excel
  • Experience with Prolog, Primavera, and AutoCAD
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work full-time on an active construction site
