Job Summary
The Industrial/Commercial Plumber Helper assists licensed plumbers and pipefitters in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems in large-scale commercial, industrial, and construction settings. This role involves preparing job sites, handling materials and tools, assembling pipes and fixtures, and supporting plumbers to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to code. Pay Range
$17-$18 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist plumbers with the installation of piping systems for water, waste, steam, and process lines in industrial or commercial facilities.
- Measure, cut, thread, groove, and assemble pipe and fittings made from steel, copper, PVC, or other materials.
- Prepare job sites by staging materials, tools, and equipment.
- Help install and secure plumbing fixtures, valves, and supports according to blueprints and specifications.
- Test plumbing systems for leaks using pressure gauges or other methods under supervision.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas at all times.
- Transport tools, materials, and equipment to and from work areas.
- Assist with reading and interpreting drawings, layouts, and schematics.
- Follow all company and OSHA safety policies and procedures.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: 1–2 years of construction or mechanical trades experience preferred; plumbing or pipefitting experience a plus.
- Technical: Basic understanding of plumbing systems, mechanical layout, and construction site operations.
- Physical: Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks in various environments.
- Tools: Proficient in using tape measures, wrenches, pipe cutters, threaders, drills, and other hand/power tools.
- Work ethic: Dependable, punctual, and motivated to learn from experienced tradesmen.
- Safety: Knowledge of proper PPE use and safe work practices; OSHA 10 certification preferred.
- Communication: Ability to take direction and work effectively in a team environment.
- Transportation: Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
