Truss Builder / Carpenter Job Description
We are seeking dependable and hardworking Truss Builders to join our construction team. In this role, you will assist in the assembly, installation, and construction of wood roof and floor trusses for residential and commercial projects. Candidates should be comfortable working with hand and power tools, reading basic plans, and working in a fast-paced construction environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assemble and build wood roof and floor trusses according to specifications and blueprints
- Measure, cut, and fasten lumber using hand and power tools
- Install truss components, connectors, and bracing
- Assist with lifting, positioning, and securing trusses
- Operate construction equipment and aerial lifts when certified
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures
- Work effectively with supervisors and crew members to meet production deadlines
Requirements:
- Previous carpentry, framing, truss-building, or construction experience preferred
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately
- Experience using hand and power tools
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding work
- Comfortable working at heights and in varying weather conditions
- Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
- Scissor Lift Certification is a plus
Preferred Qualifications:
- Residential or commercial framing experience
- Knowledge of construction safety practices
- Experience working with engineered truss systems
- Scissor Lift or Boom Lift Certification
- This position is ideal for carpenters, framers, and construction workers looking to build their skills while working on large-scale structural projects.
Truss Builder Skills (Abridged)
- Read and interpret blueprints and truss layouts
- Accurately measure, cut, and assemble lumber
- Read a tape measure proficiently
- Operate hand and power tools safely
- Understand basic framing and structural principles
- Install truss plates and connectors correctly
- Maintain high-quality workmanship and attention to detail
- Follow OSHA and company safety standards
- Work effectively as part of a team
- Lift and handle heavy materials safely
- Work at heights when required
- Scissor Lift certification is a plus
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
Ideal candidates have carpentry, framing, or truss-building experience and take pride in producing quality work.
