Job Summary

Lead and supervise commercial electrical crews to safely deliver high‑quality installations on schedule and within budget. The Commercial Electrical Foreman coordinates day‑to‑day field operations, plans manpower and material needs, interprets plans/specs, ensures code compliance (NEC), and serves as the on‑site point of contact for superintendents, project managers, GCs, and inspectors. This role combines hands‑on electrical expertise with crew leadership, productivity tracking, and safety stewardship to deliver successful projects in environments such as healthcare, education, retail, hospitality, industrial/light manufacturing, and tenant improvements.

$28-$32 per hour

Position Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily field operations for assigned areas: safety briefings, manpower allocation, and task sequencing.
  • Install, supervise, and verify electrical systems including raceways, wire/cable, panels, gear, devices, lighting controls, and equipment connections per NEC and project specifications.
  • Interpret and communicate drawings, one‑lines, sketches, RFIs, ASIs, and submittals; provide redlines and coordinate with BIM/PM teams.
  • Plan and stage work: order materials, coordinate deliveries, manage tools, and drive prefabrication opportunities to reduce onsite labor.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping, and quality; complete JHAs, incident reports, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Track labor hours, quantities, and percent complete; report progress, risks, and manpower need to the Superintendent/PM.
  • Coordinate with the GC and other trades to resolve conflicts, support inspections, and hit milestones (rough‑in, in‑wall, above‑ceiling, trim, punch list).
  • Train and mentor apprentices and journeymen; reinforce best practices and productivity expectations.
  • Support testing, start‑up, and commissioning; close punch items and deliver turnover documentation.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years commercial electrical experience with 1–3+ years leading crews as a Lead/Foreman.
  • Demonstrated success delivering on schedule in active commercial environments (healthcare, school, office, retail, hospitality, industrial).
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, local code amendments, and inspection processes.
  • Ability to read blueprints, interpret one‑lines/risers, and generate accurate redlines.
  • Proficiency with conduit installation (EMT through GRC), terminations, gear setting, and lighting controls.
  • Computer/tablet literacy for timecards, daily reports, RFIs, and plan markups.
  • Certifications: OSHA‑10/30 and NFPA 70E preferred; state journeyman/master license preferred (LA a plus).
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to pass background/drug screening as required by project or client.

Physical & Work Conditions

  • Frequently lift up to 50 lbs; climb ladders and work from lifts/scaffolding at heights.
  • Stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods; work in indoor/outdoor commercial environments.
  • Work hours may include overtime, nights, or weekends to meet schedule milestones.

Skills Desired

  • Leadership & Planning
    • Proven ability to lead 4–12+ electricians and apprentices; assign tasks, set pace, and coach for quality and productivity.
    • Strong short‑interval planning, look‑ahead scheduling, and material/kitting coordination.
    • Experience with prefabrication workflows and lean construction practices.
  • Technical Proficiency
    • Expert installation of conduit (EMT, RMC, PVC, GRC), cable tray, switchgear, lighting, fire alarm pathways, grounding/bonding, and device terminations.
    • Read and redline electrical plans, one‑lines, risers, and submittals; troubleshoot circuits and equipment.
    • Thorough working knowledge of NEC, local codes, and commercial best practices.
  • Safety & Quality
    • Champion of safety culture; conduct JHAs/Toolbox Talks; enforce LOTO and PPE compliance.
    • QA/QC mindset—pre‑task planning, inspection checklists, commissioning readiness.
  • Communication & Documentation
    • Clear, professional coordination with the GC, other trades, vendors, and inspectors.
    • Daily reports, timekeeping, quantities tracking, material pulls, and RFI escalation.
  • Tools & Technology
    • Comfortable with tablets/mobile field apps (Procore, PlanGrid/Autodesk, Bluebeam or similar).
    • Can operate threaders, benders, hydraulic knockout tools, and test instruments (megger, multimeter).
  • Credentials (Preferred)
    • OSHA‑10/30, current state journeyman or master license (Louisiana preferred), NFPA 70E, First Aid/CPR.
    • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
