Job Summary

The Concrete Carpenter is responsible for constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard, specifically for concrete forms. This role involves working with blueprints and using precise measurements to build forms that will be filled with concrete to create various structures.

Pay Range

$19-$22 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Form Construction:
    • Measure and mark cutting lines on materials using rulers, pencils, chalk, and marking gauges.
    • Shape or cut materials to precise measurements and assemble boards, timber, or plywood to the necessary size.
    • Build wooden forms in the shape of the structure, securing them with nails, bolts, screws, or anchor rods.
  • Concrete Work:
    • Fill forms with concrete to mold structures such as foundations, walls, slabs, columns, and elevated decks.
    • Ensure proper curing and finishing of concrete surfaces.
  • Blueprint Interpretation:
    • Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions, shape, design, and materials required.
  • Maintenance and Repair:
    • Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of wooden structures and repair or replace them using hand tools.
    • Maintain and repair concrete forms as needed.
  • Safety Compliance:
    • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
    • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of commercial construction practices, procedures, techniques, tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and building plans.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills for material estimates.
  • Proficiency in using carpentry tools such as hand saws, electric saws, and drills.
  • Good eye for detail to ensure work is level, plumb, and square.
  • Physical stamina and strength to perform heavy lifting and manual labor.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3-5 years of experience in carpentry or concrete work.
  • OSHA 10 needed

Working Conditions:

  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • May require working at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Full-time position with potential for overtime.
