Pay Range
$28 to $35 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Install electrical wiring, fixtures, outlets, and control systems
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams
- Diagnose and repair electrical problems
- Perform inspections and routine maintenance
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes
- Test electrical systems using diagnostic tools
- Replace or upgrade outdated or faulty systems
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and other tradespeople

Journeyman electricians install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
Skills and Qualifications
- Completion of a 4–5 year electrical apprenticeship
- Valid journeyman electrician license (varies by state)
- Knowledge of electrical codes and safety standards
- Ability to read and follow technical plans
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Physical stamina and manual dexterity
