Job Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled mechanic to work in the maintenance and repair of a wide variety of gasoline and diesel powered automotive, construction and related equipment including lawn mowing and grass cutting equipment. Work is performed independently, though subject to review during and upon completion of assigned tasks.

Pay Range
$24.64 per hour
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS:
· Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain a valid Florida driver license upon offer of employment with a driving record acceptable to the County Driving Policy and insurance program.
· Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain a Florida Commercial Driver’s license (minimum Class B) within a period of six (6) months from date of employment, as a condition of employment.
· Possession of or the ability to obtain and maintain the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) medium/heavy duty truck certifications (T3 – drive train, T4 – Brakes, and T5 – suspension/steering) for automotive repair within two (2) years from date of continued employment.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Knowledge of the methods, materials, and tools of the automotive mechanic trade.
· Knowledge of welding principles and techniques may be required.
· Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
· Knowledge of the principles of operation of gasoline and diesel engines and of the repair and maintenance characteristics of a variety of automotive and construction equipment.
· Knowledge of the principles of operation of heavy-duty truck drive train.
· Knowledge of the principles of heavy-duty truck suspension and steering.
· Skilled in the use and care of the tools, machinery and equipment of the automotive mechanics
trade.
· Ability to have excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Ability to work and maintain reliable full-time attendance.
· Ability to comprehend, speak, and read the English language.
· Ability to have and maintain good interpersonal and communication skills to deal with the public.
· Ability to adapt available tools and repair parts in specific repair problems.
· Ability to maintain shop records.
· Ability to understand and carry out oral or written instructions, to work from diagrams and sketches and repair broken parts.
