Job Summary
ATTENTION ANY TWIC CARD HOLDERS – Quality Labor Management is looking for General Laborers / Riggers to start working immediately on the Mobile Port Authority. We are looking for specialized professionals who can safely secure, lift, and help move heavy or oversized loads. They act as the critical link between heavy machinery (like cranes) and the object being moved, calculating weight distribution, inspecting equipment, and directing crane operators on job sites.

$15.00 per hour
Core Duties & Responsibilities
- Equipment Setup: Assemble, install, and dismantle rigging gear such as cables, ropes, slings, winches, and pulley systems.
- Load Calculations: Estimate the size, shape, and weight of loads to select the appropriate gear and determine lifting angles.
- Safety Inspections: Regularly inspect rigging equipment to ensure structural integrity and strict compliance with safety regulations.
- Communication: Use hand signals and two-way radios to coordinate and guide equipment and crane operators during lifts.
- Machinery Placement: Align, anchor, and level heavy machinery and structural steel in confined or difficult-to-navigate spaces.
Technical Skills
- Load Estimation: Ability to calculate the center of gravity, weight, and volume of heavy objects to determine the right rigging gear.
- Equipment Proficiency: Deep knowledge of how to select, inspect, and use hardware like slings, shackles, hooks, wire ropes, and spreader bars.
- Reading Technical Plans: Capability to interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and rigging plans.
- Rigging Knots: Understanding of specialized knots and hitches (e.g., bowline, clove hitch, timber hitch) used to secure loads safely.
