Pay Range
$30 – $36 per hour
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
- Direct and train other workers to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures.
- Follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
- Operate mechanized devices or equipment, such as forklifts.
- Perform calculations and planning according to the needs of the project
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be available to work 10-hour/days, 6-days/week on 1st shift (7am-5pm)
- Must have reliable transportation and ready to work in Port Arthur
- Capable of working outdoors, under cover or exposed to weather conditions, including the possibility of very hot or very cold temperatures.
- Capable of working indoors, within a non-environmentally controlled environment, including the possibility of very hot or very cold temperatures.
- Capable of working in an environment which produces sound or noise levels that are distracting and/or uncomfortable.
- Capable of working in environments requiring exposure to high places.
- Capable of working in a cramped workspace, which may require getting into awkward positions.
- Capable of working in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.

ACTIVE TDLR – JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Experienced in COMMERCIAL or INDUSTRIAL
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in constructing or repairing buildings or other structures.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses, repair, and maintenance. Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment.
- Knowledge of mathematics and using math applications to solve problems.
- Knowledge of processes for providing customer needs assessment and meeting quality standards.
- Ability to determine the tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Ability to test and inspect products, equipment, processes, or services to identify operating errors and evaluate quality or performance. Must be able to monitor and review information to detect and assess problems.
- Use relevant information and individual judgment to identify approaches to problems or tasks and determine whether processes comply with laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Ability to effectively employ time management skills to own tasks and work under supervision. Must be capable of developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish tasks.
- Ability to communicate effectively via written, oral, and visual methods.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using hand and power tools.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Test electrical systems and circuit continuity in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of systems.
- Maintain current electrician’s license or identification card to meet governmental regulations, as required by the state where work is performed.
- Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.
- Conduits (pipes or tubing) should be placed inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas. Insulated wires or cables should be pulled through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
- Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets.
- Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduits and moving and lifting heavy objects.
- Follow established safety rules and regulations. Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
