Job Summary
Position Summary The Commercial/Industrial Pipe Fitter is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems in industrial and commercial settings. This role involves reading blueprints, interpreting technical drawings, and assembling, aligning, and securing pipes for systems that transport water, chemicals, gases, and other fluids. The Pipe Fitter ensures all work meets safety standards, building codes, and project specifications while collaborating with engineers, project managers, and other tradespeople to complete projects on time and within budget.

$20-$25 per hour
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, assemble, and maintain piping systems in commercial and industrial facilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine pipe layout and installation methods
- Cut, thread, weld, and join pipes using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
- Inspect and test piping systems to ensure they meet project specifications and safety standards
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other trades to complete installations efficiently
- Perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs on piping systems
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, building codes, and environmental regulations
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and inspections completed
- Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and machinery used in pipe fitting
- Participate in safety meetings and training programs to stay current on best practices
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred
- Apprenticeship completion or equivalent experience in industrial/commercial pipe fitting
- Proven experience in commercial or industrial pipe fitting
- Valid certifications in welding, pipefitting, or related areas preferred
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulatory compliance
Desired Skills
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and piping diagrams
- Skilled in measuring, cutting, threading, and assembling metal and plastic pipes
- Knowledge of welding, soldering, and brazing techniques
- Familiarity with pipe support systems, hangers, and brackets
- Safety & Compliance:
- Knowledge of OSHA and other safety regulations
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools and heavy machinery
- Understanding of confined space entry and lockout/tagout procedures
- Problem Solving & Communication:
- Ability to troubleshoot piping systems and identify leaks or other issues
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with project teams
- Time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Physical & Technical Aptitude:
- Physical stamina for lifting, bending, and working in various positions
- Ability to work at heights, in tight spaces, and in varying environmental conditions
- Familiarity with industrial materials such as steel, copper, PVC, and stainless steel
