Position Description: Rod Buster (Reinforcing Ironworker)
A Rod Buster is a construction professional responsible for installing and securing steel reinforcing bars (rebar) and mesh used to strengthen concrete structures. This role is essential in ensuring the durability and stability of buildings, bridges, roads, and other infrastructure projects.
🔨 Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Measure, cut, bend, and place rebar according to project requirements
- Tie rebar together using wire, clips, or mechanical tools
- Position steel reinforcements inside concrete forms before pouring
- Install wire mesh or reinforcing materials for structural support
- Use hand tools (pliers, cutters) and power tools (rebar tying guns)
- Assist with layout and alignment to ensure proper spacing and placement
- Follow all safety regulations and OSHA standards on job sites
- Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and other construction crew members

- Outdoor construction sites in varying weather conditions
- Physically demanding work involving lifting, bending, and climbing
