Job Summary
Experienced and detail-oriented Screed Operator responsible for controlling the screed on an asphalt paving machine to apply consistent and even layers of hot mix asphalt on roadways, parking lots, and other surfaces. Ensures proper depth, width, and surface texture by adjusting the screed according to project specifications and site conditions. Works closely with the paver operator and crew to ensure quality and uniformity in the paving process while maintaining a strong commitment to safety.

Pay Range
$27-$32 per hour
Operate and adjust the screed on the paving machine to achieve specified asphalt thickness, width, and slope.
Monitor mat quality and make real-time adjustments for consistency and smoothness.
Communicate with the paver operator and other crew members to coordinate paving operations.
Ensure proper setup of screed extensions, strike-offs, and heating elements.
Conduct daily inspection and maintenance of screed components.
Follow all safety procedures and maintain awareness of surrounding workers and equipment.
Proven experience operating asphalt screed equipment.
In-depth knowledge of asphalt paving techniques and materials.
Ability to make precise adjustments to screed controls for optimal results.
Strong teamwork, communication, and attention to detail.
Familiarity with grade control systems (laser or stringline preferred).
