Position Title: Skilled Laborer

Position Overview

The Skilled Laborer performs hands-on duties that support construction, maintenance, or industrial project operations. This role involves operating tools and equipment, assisting specialized trades, and ensuring work areas remain clean and safe. The position requires physical strength, attention to detail, and the ability to follow technical instructions within fast-paced or outdoor environments.​


Key Responsibilities

  • Transport materials, tools, and supplies to and from work sites.​
  • Operate and maintain hand and power tools, such as drills, saws, jackhammers, or compactors.​
  • Assist in basic construction tasks like demolition, framing, mixing concrete, or installing fixtures.​
  • Support skilled tradespeople (e.g., electricians, plumbers, carpenters) during project work.​
  • Follow safety regulations and maintain a hazard-free workspace in compliance with OSHA and company policies.​
  • Perform site inspections and equipment checks; report maintenance needs.​
  • Load and unload materials, set up scaffolding, and prepare job sites for daily operations.​
  • Maintain accurate documentation relating to assigned tasks and equipment use.​
  • Participate in training sessions and team meetings to enhance skills and job performance.​

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).​
  • At least one year of experience in construction, maintenance, or related labor-intensive environments.​
  • Proficiency in operating hand and power tools safely and effectively.​
  • Working knowledge of basic measurement, math, and blueprint interpretation.​
  • Physical capacity to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive manual tasks.​
  • Valid driver’s license required for positions involving travel or equipment operation.​

  • Proficiency in the safe and effective use of hand and power tools, such as drills, saws, grinders, and compactors.​
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery and equipment, including forklifts, jackhammers, or compactors.​
  • Understanding of blueprints and basic construction drawings, with the ability to follow detailed project specifications.​
  • Knowledge of trade-specific skills, such as carpentry, masonry, concrete work, painting, or basic electrical and plumbing support.​
  • Competence in basic math for measuring, leveling, and calculating material quantities.​

Physical and Mechanical Abilities

  • High physical strength and stamina for lifting, carrying, and performing repetitive manual tasks throughout long shifts.​
  • Strong hand–eye coordination and dexterity for precise tool use and avoiding injury.​
  • Endurance to work in varied weather conditions or confined spaces while maintaining safety and productivity.​

Safety and Compliance

  • Firm understanding of workplace safety protocols and OSHA standards.​
  • Ability to maintain clean, hazard-free work areas and follow environmental and safety regulations.​
