Job Summary
WE ARE LOOKING FOR EXPERIENCED STEVEDORING CRANE OPERATORS – A stevedoring crane operator is responsible for the precise, safe, and efficient loading and unloading of cargo containers, bulk goods, and machinery between ships, docks, and railcars. It is a highly specialized, high-stakes role requiring sharp situational awareness, deep knowledge of vessel balance, and rigorous adherence to maritime safety standards.

Essential Certifications & Qualifications
- NCCCO Certification: NOT REQUIRED TO START
- TWIC Card Required: Must be able to apply for Transportation Worker Identification Credential prior to starting.
- Medical Clearance: Must be able to passing regular physical and drug screening.
Technical and Mechanical Skills
- Load Chart Mastery: Ability to instantly read and calculate load weights, radii, and angle charts.
- Rigging Expertise: Deep understanding of slings, chains, spreader bars, and how to safely secure shipping containers and break-bulk.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Basic knowledge of equipment capabilities, limitations, and preventative maintenance protocols.
Cognitive and Spatial Skills
- Hand-Eye Coordination: Exceptional dexterity to operate joysticks, manage multiple movements simultaneously, and position heavy loads without swinging.
- Spatial Awareness: Strong depth perception and mental mapping to gauge distances between the dock, the ship’s hold, and the crane, often with obstructed views.
- Critical Thinking: Ability to make split-second judgments and react safely to unpredictable weather or shifting cargo.
